Shelly and Kelly live in an incredible, custom-built, 1960's home in the Rockland area of Victoria. Their home is truly a modern masterpiece and they came to us to create a unique and lively kitchen that would respect the mid-century style of their home as well as their personalities.
When IKAN started this project Shelley and Kelly's kitchen was straight out of the 1960's, but not in a good way. Dated wood paneling, no counter space and a dysfunctional layout, we started by knocking down the wall between the dining room and kitchen and worked with Shelley and Kelly to create a kitchen layout that allowed for entertaining. They chose finishings like a stunning Quartz countertop, pale glass mosaic tiles for the backsplash and a vibrant lime green for the walls, all complemented by IKEA's ABSTRAKT doors in high gloss white. They splurged on high-end appliances like a Thermador induction cooktop and chose a retractable down-draft fan so their kitchen would remain completely open to the adjacent dining room.
Shelley and Kelly are delighted with their modern kitchen and threw a New Years party to celebrate. As it turns out our work in their fabulous home is not quite finished: IKAN will be overseeing a complete downstairs renovation including the installation of another kitchen. Stay tuned!
